Don't get scared by the name. Nu-Rave is a new movement and has only the neon colors and some fancy ... freaky dresscode in common with the techno raves. The music is electronic mixed with rock sounds and some old 80's dance hits. What started last year in London (where else?) made it fast to Moscow and August 2006 two New Yorkers are organizing a regular new rave event, first at Krisis Chandra and now at Propaganda. Check it out, if you make it pass the face control. Face control at Propaganda? Yes, you heard right. This is one of the best events in town and regularly overcrowded, so leave your Dagilev outfit at home, put on some neon colored clothes and party with the hippest crowd of Moscow...

City Beaches are popular in metropoles around the world. Moscow has a few real (river) beaches, even a nude beach, but they are far away from the center and you don't really want to take a bath in the highly poluted Moskva. Kak na Kanarah is an alternative to the city beaches and the few pools in the center. I went to visit this newly open pool bar on the Moscowriver embankment, right in the center near Park Kulturi.
Check this excellent sports photography exhibition at studio ELEVEN Winzavod. It opened today and is only open until Sunday.
My girlfriend doesn't like it, when I am writing about my favorite places in Moscow and I give away some tips on where to go shopping or eating. Well, take this one about Moscow's best terrace (in my opinion). She is OK with that, because she doesn't like the place. Probably because of all the beautiful women lounging there. I heard from a reliable source, that even some Bolshoi ballerinas go there between and after their performances, but go see yourself.
I just came back from a visit of the Gorbushka market. It seems one of my greatest fears became truth and the government is really cracking down on pirated media now...
I often get asked about Russian art and places to go see some good galleries. Well, here is one. Vinzavod is an old factory which was converted into an art center recently. Its said to be the So-Ho of Moscow and although that might be an exaggeration, there is plenty of modern art, stores and soon even a cinema. Go check it out.
