03/03: Putin and Medvedev Address the Crowd on Red Square

Category: Thoughts

Dmitry Medvedev became the new president of Russia, winning with over 70% of votes. Yesterday he and Putin went to the Red Square where the Russian band Lube (quite awful but patriotic music) were having a concert, and addressed the people.

Watch the video from the Russia Today channel (which is a disgrace to TV industry):

(Putin and Medvedev appear about halfway through the video)

Even though they say all the right things, the fact that it was Lube's concert is a bit annoying, plus watching it on this Russia Today's Russian propaganda channel is not very pleasant too... The presenter in the beginning has a severe right brow condition :)

Regarding the election and the results, there was no other alternative really. Zyuganov is a communist (got about 19%), Zhirinovsky is ultra-nationalist (some say that he's fake, and was created just to take away the votes from the potential real ones - nevertheless he got 10%), and Bogdanov looks more like a Turkish pop band singer (got 1%). So-called opposition Kasyanov wouln't have any chances anyway, so many people believe he just chose to be banned from elections. The was no point for Kremlin to get rid of him, because he wouldn't be of any competition. Hence the results...

Have you watched the TV show Russian Godfathers or the Putin Gambit?
Medvedev could easily receive the votes with or without Kasyanov, so why do they bother suppressing him.

Russia is in scary times, if you dont see that you are blind. No free press, no free elections, resorted to siding with Serbia and we know what happened in the 1900's when Serbians caused problems... Mygirlfriend and close friends are Russians and they have a defeatist attitude, they seewhats happening and they are powerless to do anything. Bribery is rife ive experienced it first hand, the country is inturmoil and medvedev is just another billionaire dumar who will split thewealth amongst his allies. Poor Russia

I do not have time neither to watch another critics or truth revealers, nor Putin & Medvedev PR movie. Obviously these moives are ordered by certain political forces. Both are useless and even counter-productive.

At least life with Putin getting better. No one expect miracle, but what country needs is calm and stable development. If Medvedev support same course I support him. Yes I voted for Medvedev. Zhirinovsky? Sometime he offer too radical solutions, I do not think he is capable for such workplace as president's chair. Zuganov? They ruled this country for 70 years, that's more than enough. Bogdanov? Who is this?

Believe to me, scary times was 10..17 years ago. It is my impression as russian citizen.

If you're interested to learn more about GazProm, read the book titled – "Gazprom - The New Russian Weapon". I haven't found it in English, yet, but the Russian version lays it all out pretty clearly.
